After fully digesting Michael Bastian’s mainline “comeback” presentation (I know he loathes that term), I can safely say that Basty is continuing to elevate his collections. This time by drawing in-depth inspiration from the life of James Dean.
Some of my favourite pieces from his s/s ’12 collection are the beige knit crew neck sweater, grey front pocket cargos, and the shawl lapeled suit. You’ll also notice the return of the plaid sport jacket, tuxedo dinner jacket, and his highly coveted rugby shirt.
Since Michael Bastian decided to part ways with long-time licensee Brunello Cucinelli last year, you should notice a price reduction in his mainline by approximately 15-20%. This drop in price is a reflection of Bastian manufacturing and distributing his own menswear range without the help of Cucinelli.
