Reviewed August 2026: The Willoughby is an archival Paul Smith model. Its original product link now redirects to the brand’s current suit collection.
Paul Smith London’s charcoal Willoughby was presented in 2010 as a restrained alternative to the label’s sharper slim-fit tailoring. Its two-button front, notch lapels and subdued lining made it a versatile business suit rather than a conspicuous statement piece.
The useful idea here is the middle-ground fit. A mid-fit jacket should sit cleanly across the shoulders and chest without the close waist suppression of a very slim cut. The button should fasten without pulling, the lapels should lie flat, and the trousers should follow the leg without clinging. Those checks matter more than the size printed on the label.
The original Willoughby is no longer listed, but Paul Smith continues to offer tailored and slim-fit models in its current men’s suit collection. Compare it with other historical cuts in Suitored’s suit archive.
